Job Description

About the Role

The Café and Bar Manager will ensure the smooth running of daily operations in the café and bars, with dedication to drive profitability and achieve objectives and goals, and the personality to create a vibe that attracts customers to keep coming back again and again.

The Café and Bar Manager will provide ongoing support and motivation to the Food and Beverage Coordinator, and the broader Front of House team, will work directly with staff to ensure business goals are met. The Café and Bar Manager will collaborate with the Senior Duty Manager and the Head Chef to ensure that all KPI’s are met of the Café and bars.

Continuous improvement is paramount to Café and Bar success with the Café and Bar Manager motivating and leading their team to drive high quality service to patrons.

Essential qualifications and experience

To be successful in this position, you will have experience in a similar role, a passion for the arts and thrive in a high-energy, innovative environment. Your experience will include:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Café Manager/Supervisor
  • Experience as a barista.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, influencing, and maintaining professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders; solid conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to adapt, make decisions and solve complex problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Developing and managing staff rosters and schedules across the team.
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol certification
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, coach and manage a team.
  • Commercial acumen including managing expenses within approved budget constraints within a public sector framework.

Desirable qualifications and experience

  • A Diploma of Hospitality or Business or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • A current Food Handler Supervisor Certificate
  • Understanding of all licensing and operating legislation which affects the Centre including the Liquor Act.

Special requirements

  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster 7 days a week, including daytime, evening, and weekend work, will be required as part of the normal hours of duty for this position.
  • The following checks, licences and certifications are required for this role:
  • Current and valid Working with Children’s Check (employee)
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol certification
